Answer box
If your supplier won’t share CBAM data, you report using EU default values plus the yearly mark-up: +10 % on 2026 defaults, +20 % on 2027, and +30 % from 2028. Defaults are set conservatively high, so defaults plus mark-up are usually more expensive than real data from an engaged supplier.
The playbook
See the full version in What to do when a supplier won’t send CBAM data. Short version:
- Switch channel from English email to WhatsApp in their language.
- Explain the cost impact in one sentence.
- Offer the Commission template (they can share it with other buyers).
- Set a specific deadline, not “soon”.
- Escalate to a 15-minute call.
- If still nothing, file with defaults + mark-up and send them the difference.
