Answer box
The CBAM communication template is a standard Excel workbook published by the European Commission that non-EU installation operators use to share emissions data with EU importers. CBAMWorks exports one filled template per supplier.
Template version
The Commission publishes the latest version on its communication page. At the time of writing (October 2026) the 18 December 2024 version is the current reference. We update CBAMWorks’ export to match whenever the Commission publishes a new version — logged on the rule tracker.
Sheets (overview)
- Installation data — identifiers, address, operator contact.
- Production route — the route the installation uses (BF-BOF, EAF, primary smelting, etc.).
- Monitoring plan reference — version and date.
- Fuels — type, quantity, calorific value, emission factor.
- Precursors — type, quantity, embedded emissions, origin.
- Products — tonnes produced per CN code, allocation to products.
- Emissions summary — specific embedded emissions per CN code.
How CBAMWorks fills it
Every input in the dashboard maps to a specific cell in the template. The export is deterministic — same inputs produce the same output.
